Melbourne To Do: Brighton Beach

Last weekend I had the pleasure of having my beautiful Scottish friend Hannah come hang out in my neck of the woods. It was so nice to have a chilled weekend and drink lots of coffee and eat lots of yummy food. On Sunday we made the short trip to Brighton which I had actually never properly visited. This suburb of Melbourne is really cute and has loads to do such as shopping, cafes, bars and of course the Bright Beach Boxes - perfect for a cheeky photo in front of the Aussie flag.

Book Club - "Bossypants" Tina Fey

I am going to put it out there, I loved this book. It took me a while to warm to it (aka it took me about 3 weeks to read it) but I did really enjoy it. Like Poehler's Yes Please and Dunham's Not That Kind of Girl I do think you have to be a fan of the funny lady writing the book and of the show they have created, in this case it is Tina Fey's quirky sitcom 30 Rock.

BRB Off To Sydney

As you are reading this I will be en route to Sydney to meet my parents - still can't quite believe this is happening! I haven't seen them since January 8th when I set off on my travels so I cannot wait to see them. We are staying for 4 nights in Sydney then 7 in good old Melbourne, it's going to be full off good food, good wine and good company.

Week in Pictures #6

L-R: pretty prints; sucker for a pair of sunnies; Rifle Paper Co. is prettier than you.

I didn't actually buy any of these items but man I wish I did looking back at them now, just look at the joy in my face at those sunglasses. I really like these prints from a little Sandringham store, think I might take some back to the UK and get them framed for my room at home.

New In: Delicate Necklaces

My name is Katy and I have an addiction to gold, delicate necklaces. There I said it I have come clean. Seriously though who can resit jewellery especially with a 3 for $10 deal at Lovisa aka my fave jewellery shop in Australia.

New In: Sportsgirl Lipsticks

I mentioned in my What I've Been Buying Lately Post that I am impressed with these Sportsgirl lippies, so much so that every time I go into the store I have to tear myself away from the beauty counter. To be honest I shouldn't give myself such a hard time as these babies are only $9.95 a pop!

Travel Diaries - Thailand #3

Lianne and I rolled out of a 14 hour bus at 6am in Phuket and literally had no idea where to go. Turns out Phuket is actually kind of big, Thailand wise, so after a quick communication break down with the taxi driver we decided on Patong because I vaguely remember that being the main area. We were honestly the worst for looking up travel information, wifi was sparse and any wifi we got we used on more important things like Instagramming that sick pic of us at (insert touristy destination here).

What I've Been Buying Lately

Can't. Stop. Shopping. After travelling for months on end and not being able to buy anything because a). I was skint and b). I had zero room in my backpack, I am now making up for this lack of splurging. Luckily for my bank account I work full time so less time to shop and I am Scottish so therefore an eternal stinge.

Week in Pictures #5

L-R: more jewellery treats; pineapple candle holder (d'awww); adorable pug print toiletry bag.

It is lucky Lovisa is an inexpensive jewellery store because I cannot stop myself from buying dainty necklaces from there, thank god for their inspired 3 for $10 offers. My pineapple obsession is getting out of hand, I can't stop buying and obsessing over random pineapple artefacts that I do not need but look sooo pretty (I need help). I needed a toiletry bag for my Sydney trip next week and this little baby is the perfect size to throw my make-up and other essentials into - plus how freakin' adorable is it?!

Melbourne To Do: CBD Laneways

  Degraves Street

Often nicknamed 'Coffee Street" by locals and tourists alike, Degraves Street is the place to go for alfresco dining and a cracking coffee and cake come rain or shine. There are lots of restaurants and cafes along the street with a couple of boutique shops and a random barbers too. The heated outdoor seating area makes you feel like you are in Europe as it has that kind of eclectic, relaxed vibe which I love. I actually had dinner at one of the lovely Italian restaurants for my 23rd birthday, which was lovely. Be sure to grab a famously good Melbourne coffee from here at least.

Travel Diaries - Thailand #2

Riding on the back of a scooter was well and truly ticked off the bucket list when I travelled from Bangkok to the tiny village of Ang Thong to see my old uni flatmate Saskia - look at that face of pure joy, one happy chappy right there.

Week in Pictures #4

L-R: baby chinos and macaroons; milkshake date; another day, another coffee.

My life evolves around coffee and cake trips, it's literally my only solace during the week when the kids are driving me insane, which they do 90% of the time.

Weekend Getaway - Lorne

Last weekend my host family and I headed down the Great Ocean Road to the cute seaside town of Lorne for a 2 night stay in a lovely spa resort - lucky me huh?!

Travel Diaries - Thailand #1

Thailand adventures now and its safe to say we had the most fun in this beautiful country. First stop was Bangkok which I had low expectations of as people had warned me it was really crowded and dirty. Luckily I was pleasantly surprised, yes it was a bit dingy and busy but some areas were really beautiful, the shopping malls were amazing and the metro system was super cheap and easy to get figure out and get around.
