Travel Diaries - India #1

First stop on my Asian adventure was India. India was never a place I thought I would ever visit but my travel buddy's friend Hannah travelled there and raved about it so we added it on to our trip.

After around 13 or so hours of flying we eventually arrived in New Delhi and its safe to say this was the weirdest place of the whole trip. It is exactly how you would imagine it, very crowded, very noisy and very underdeveloped. To cut a long story short we got slightly scammed by a dodgy taxi driver and an even dodgier "travel agent". Word of advice to any travelling here, get airport staff to book you a licensed taxi don't just wonder outside to a catch a cab like we did. The only silver lining of this ordeal was that we got a trip to Agra to see the Taj Mahal which we nearly missed out on because we didn't pre book a train to there... Another top tip, book trains months in advance before you go as they fill up super quick as India is crazy over populated.

After a 6 hour drive to Agra (where I seen all sights imaginable from monkeys to a family of five on a motorbike to a traditional India wedding) we made it to the Taj Mahal which is one of the most beautiful and surreal sights I have ever seen and was totally worth all the drama it took to get there.

These pictures don't even do it justice, it was incredible. We had a tour guide to take us around the Taj Mahal which was actually really cool and insightful, plus he doubled up as our photographer - bonus!

You can't go to India and not see the Taj Mahal and I am so glad that we got to go there. Word to the wise there isn't much to do in Agra bar see this beauty so we just stayed there for one night, likewise don't stay in New Delhi for too long either. South India is where it is at people and that's what the next Travel Diaries will focus on, so eyes peeled for that.

PS Random fact if you are blonde, a girl and white you will have your photo taken constantly by random Indians at the Taj Mahal and often without your permission, so make sure you look as sassy as ever because you will more than likely Be in many Indian family albums... truth.
